National Night Out teaches crime awareness July 30, 2010|By Steve

Police in several cities throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties will promote safety and crime awareness through community
involvement during National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday.
Hollywood will mark the annual event with several block parties, police Lt. Manny Marino said.
"It's a way for people to get to know their neighbors," he said. "We've had pretty good success with it."
The event is always a big affair in Margate, Crime Prevention Officer Tony Careccia said.
"Every year, it's been growing," he said. "The first year we had 500, then 1,000 the next year, and last year we had in excess of 7,000.
We stopped counting."
